Creative Spiritual Insights: Reflection

Sometimes when really take a hard look inside we may not like what we see. There’s no doubt that within can lie many disconcerting and unsettling truths about ourselves. As Skillet syas, we are all Monsters to some degree. But God says something different. Epheisans 2:10-11 says we are his “Masterpiece” and that we were created to do good and God-like things. We have the capacity for great good or great bad and it’s all about what we become. We were made to worship him in everything we do. We do that when we do what we were created to do. God has plans and ideas and dreams for each of us. He has seeds and longings planted deep within us that upon reflection we can see. God has called us to a life more abundant and rich than we could ever really imagine. But how many of us are really there living that life? I dare say very few…(myself included at least for many years).

So upon reflection what do you see? What good and bad qualities do you see?

What strengths and weaknesses do you see?

What dreams do you have?

What makes you tick at this point in your life?

What motivates you?

What inspires you?

What do you dream about?

What hardships and trials are you in that could be used to transform your vision of life?

What mistakes and poor choices can you give to God afresh and anew for Him to use to build His Kingdom?

15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Ephesians 5:15-16

What are some things that your life is reflecting right now about what you believe or feel about God?

How do others view God through your responses?

What do your choices about how you live, spend your time or money, talk to your friends, family or loved ones, reflect about your values?

How does your heart show itself through your work, play, worship, life? Is it truly reflective of what you desire and want?
