Creative Spiritual Insights: Try Something New

Have you ever been stuck in a moment? Or stuck in a habit? How about stuck in your life? Sometimes we can find ourselves spending years doing the same thing, getting the same results…even good or great results but wondering if there’s anything else? What if God has something entirely new and different for you?

“Behold, the former things have come to pass, Now I declare new things; Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you.”

Maybe you have heard the old saying that goes: “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got”. Even though this phrase is not 100% true, it is something to consider. Often there are many good things that we can do and get good results and then there are not so good things that we can be caught up in that continue to yield less than ideal results. Perhaps you have also heard how to know if a person is insane? A person who would continue to do the same things and expect different results would be considered insane.Yet how often do we do that? It can be so tempting to believe that God simply wants us to continue in our current state because  we are “enjoying” our life. All the while, God wants to do something new.

I laugh and wonder sometimes if God doesn’t get tired of hearing some of our hymns? This is why he said sing a “New” song. Yes, the hymns were great and he has heard them for millennia but he wants some new material too!

Maybe…just maybe…God wants us to try something new?

What things have happened that you never thought you would see happen?

What are some new things you have become interested in?

What kind of things seem to be popping up right in front of you?

What things does it seem like God is speaking to you about?

How would your future look vastly different from your past if you did what you are thinking about doing?

Are you willing to trust God with your future and not just your past?
