Lent Thoughts Day 10

This is the message the John himself heard. He was present in person with Jesus. So these words came directly from the Lord’s mouth:

God is Light and there is no darkness in Him. God has nothing to do with darkness. He has nothing to do with sin.

If we say that we somehow have fellowship with God and then we are living in darkness, then we are lying. Light and Darkness cannot coexist in the same space.

Walking in the Light affects our relationships and fellowship with each other. When we are walking in Light, we have FELLOWSHIP and FORGIVENESS.

The blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin when we are in the Light.

Anyone who says they don’t sin is simply deceived. Everyone sins! But not owning up to is prohibits you from being forgiven for it.

CONFESSION leads to CLEANSING

Just admit when you sin because everyone sins. Saying you don’t doesn’t just make you out to be a liar but you’re calling God a liar too. That’s not wise.

Sometimes we want to make like we are not guilty of a certain things, whatever that things may be. We just don’t like getting caught. We don’t like being found out. What the author is saying in this passage is that we don’t need to worry about being found out…we are all guilty! The only one we are fooling when we say we don’t sin is ourselves. People around us can certainly testify that we are sinful.

The great thing about God is that He is aware also and more aware than we really want him to be, honestly. Yet, this God who knows everything about us sent his son to die for us that we could be forgiven of these sins.

Fellowship with God and Christ are found in “fessing” up. We cannot pretend that we have not offended God and others. This in itself is an offense to God. Forgiveness is found in “fessing” up. The issue is that we are “messing” up but that we are not “fessing” up.

We cannot have healthy and meaningful relationships with God or others apart from living in the Light. The Light illuminates all the darkness in our lives and exposes us to the Truth that we need to hear and admit as well as profess to others:

God is Light. In Him there is no darkness.

Knowing and embracing this truth brings comfort, peace, freedom and joy. It’s amazing that the one who knows me best, loves me most! That really is amazing grace!
