Weekend Update: V2H Happenings

This was a very busy weekend for V2H WAVE Teams. In fact, it was a busy week.

Last Wednesday, the TN WAVE Team performed at their Fields Of Faith Event at Hixson High School. #Fieldsoffaith is an event sponsored by Fellowship Of Christian Athletes across many school campuses each fall. The TN WAVE Team did several songs ranging from WAKE to OPEN SKIES. The response to the worship was wonderful and the team did exceptionally well. God moved on the scene and there were many moved closer to God through the powerful message given that evening! V2H and the TN WAVE are very grateful to have been part of this wonderful event in reaching students for the glory of God! Watch clips here courtesy of  Dustee and Roderick and Jamie Jenkins :

Vision 2 Hear El Salvador hosted the first GLOW SKATE PARTY at the G-SPOT SKATE PARK on Saturday. From a graffiti competition to skate competition, V2H and V2H ES are committed to creatively communicating the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The night started with new graffiti being painted on the walls. Local artists joined in to give the skate park a facelift and we used it as an opportunity to engage believers and non-believers for the glory of God.

The evening continued with black lights and fluorescent paints being activated and then skaters hitting the ramps doing tricks of all kinds. There was also a competition and new skateboard decks were given away to winners.

Here are a few pics of the night. A very special shout out to Vision 2 Hear ES and all those who volunteer there to serve. You guys are awesome and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!

On Saturday, the NC WAVE TEAM had the chance to serve alongs side New Covenant Church at Fox Chase Village, a local mobile home park and serve over 300 people (with more than half of them being children, many being of asian and Spanish descent)! We helped operate game areas for the children and then we shared several songs, with a couple of them in Spanish. This was a great follow-up for several from the team who had served in El Salvador this summer. The team did a great jumping in to serve and performing. Here are a few pics from the event.

So thanks for all your prayers for things that are happening with Vision 2 Hear. We couldn’t do what we do without your prayers and support. If you’d like to support us in these efforts and others like it, please donate through paypal here:

Ministry In El Salvador Update

Vision 2 Hear El Salvador just had their 8th year of ministry birthday.  Last week the V2H ES team did a lot of work to celebrate the 8th year of ministry. As part of the celebration, they went out to New Renacer and had a children’s day. I’ve been to this community a few times and V2H ES is doing an awesome job in holistic ministry here. With several churches and individuals making all of this possible, V2H ES was able to bring life and light to these children once again!

They also took time last week to get the G-Spot Skate Park ready for the huge event this weekend:

V2H ES is a ministry partner with G-Spot and is committed to reaching the skating community for Christ. This event will be a great opportunity to talk about being Light in Darkness and also gave the V2H ES team a chance to serve by readying the park through painting and preparation.

As the team finished the preparations, they tested the lights and made sure that everything was ready and working properly…and of course they had a little fun too!

The event is scheduled to happen this weekend and they are expecting a HUGE turnout. We did a skate event a few years ago and had over 300 attend. This may well exceed that! Please keep this event in your prayers this week and especially this weekend. If you would like to contribute to V2H ES and the work we are doing, please make a tax-deductible gift here using paypal.com

Thanks so much!

October Devotional Guide: Light & Darkness Wk.1

Light and Darkness

Download this new week of devotionals below: Light & Darkness. This month we will study through Light and Darkness and some of what God, Jesus and others have to say about each. Hopefully, you will be enlightened and challenged as God brings you from darkness into His marvelous Light.

Read Matthew 5:14-16:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Day 1 Who is writing this verse? Who is saying this verse? To whom is it being said? Why would Jesus say something like this during this time? What doe you think is the overall meaning of this verse? What or how does that affect you as you move into a new month? Do you have a sense of challenge or hear God saying anything in particular about what He wants to teach you this month?

Day 2 Is the word “You” singular or plural? Does it change the concept or idea if it’s one way or another? What about the word “town”? How does your understanding of that word or “city” affect you as you consider what Jesus is saying about His message being shared?

Day 3 Where does a light belong? How is it meant to be used? What is the purpose? When you consider these answers, think about how it translates into your witness and worship of Christ in the world. Anything that stands out in your mind?

Day 4 When you think about light that Jesus and the people he was talking to, how important was light for them? Does it change the meaning or significance for us when we have so much light accessible? Do you ever think about light…when? How does that affect you?

Day 5  Why do you think Jesus calls His people Light? In Genesis 1, what does God create first? Do you think this has any correlation? How significant is “light” in the Bible?

Day 6 The verse above says our light is demonstrated how? Is it possible for our light to be diminished? In what ways does your light get covered or lessened? What can you do about that?

Day 7 Look at all the ways light affects you today. Consider the light outside, inside, natural and incandescent. See how it makes you feel, look, or even act. Would you say Light is powerful in its affects? How can you learn from this observation of how God has uses light in your life?

Summer Student Shares

DSC_0003 2This summer, Vision 2 Hear was able to share in many mission trips, taking several students and adults out of the country for the very first time. Cole Yates is one of those students.
Serving on the NC WAVE team for a few years now, Cole, a Junior at West Carteret High School, took his mission trip to El Salvador for 9 days and then served another week in Miami, FL with Vision 2 Hear. Having worked hard to generate funds, prepare his signs for music, he demonstrated a great work ethic and resilience in the heat. From carrying dirt that had been dug for a retaining wall to connecting well with the nationals, Cole proved he was on the trip for all the right reasons. The photo below is from a homework assignment that he will share at school tomorrow. We’re very proud of Cole and all those who served with us this summer! Pray for him as he continues to demonstrate what it means to live as #ONESENT

Thanks to everyone who came out tonight to perform and to try to help us with our mission trip. Here are a few pics from tonight’s time.

The WAVE Team of New Vision Church had its final concert last night. For the last 7 years the WAVE team has been sharing music, performances and service through New Vision Church in Fayetteville, GA. It is with fond memories that we say goodbye for now. Many of the team members have now grown up and many have other commitments in life now that prohibit continued attendance/practice. So for now we are taking at break at that location.

The concert included many highlights with several new songs being performed. Added to the growing repertoire of V2H songs was Our Time Is Now, Wake, Break Every Chain and George brought back an old one in I’m Not Alright. A couple of crowd favorites were also performed: Lay Me Down, Monster and Radiator.

Another special highlight was the recognition of the seniors for this year. V2H recognized three this year: Casey Palicki from Pike County, GA, Holly Roberts from Loganville, GA and Carl Gallo from Miami, Fl. There was a special slideshow for them, which can be viewed here: Seniors 2015. V2H also took a moment to recognize the leadership of Markie Love.

Markie has been part of V2H for almost 8 years. She started at Community Christian School in Stockbridge GA as a freshman in high school and now she is a senior in college. Over the years Markie has lead the team, working with the church and coordinating events and teaching music. On June 23 she will join us on her mission trip out of the country as she goes to South Korea!

Thanks to the New Vision WAVE “Freaks” for all of great memories and wonderful times through the years! You will not be soon forgotten and we know that wherever you go, you will be the “sign”, a living breathing Vision 2 Hear, in Jesus’ name.
