India Update Week 2

AWAKEN 2016 LOGO FINAL

Hey everyone,

2016-03-01 05.53.55I am on the plane writing this update fresh off the trip to India. It was a great time once again and there were several good things that came out of it. Here’s a little review of the time there and what we are looking at for the future.

LENT

Of course I am practicing Lent this year but it’s not been the typical Lent season for me. I have not been able to engage as I would normally. However once I got to India I realized they were having prayer meetings as part of Lent each morning at 5am-6am. This was not what I wanted to hear after 29 hours of flying and then another 4.5 driving. But the next morning I got up and went to prayer and it was great.  Lent isn’t just about giving up something like sleep but about embracing sacrifice knowing that it is worth it. Even before the trip, I’ve been trying to engage in prayer more diligently and intentionally and I have noticed a marked difference in my life because of it.  I shared a devotional several times during the prayer meetings over the last 13 days and plan to continue my early morning prayers throughout Lent at least. Hopefully the practice will lead to a habit that will lead to more intimacy with Christ.

CHURCH

The first Sunday, I preached a couple times in the main location but we didn’t go to all the locations. We went out to Vellaturro in the evening, which is about 40 minutes away. The last Sunday we did all the locations but canceled the Nuanna service because of sign practice.
The churches are doing well and growing. Everyone was happy I was there and I conveyed all of our love and prayers for them. A couple of prayer concerns for the churches:
  • Snakes. One of the locations is constantly being disturbed by poisonous snakes slithering in during the service. This last Sunday it happened once again 5 minutes after I departed! Pray they can get rid of them and or close the building off in such a way as to keep them out.
  • Building. A couple of the churches are meeting outside and really need a location more permanent and unaffected by weather changes. Pray they can secure these things in the coming months.

WAVE

2016-02-28 08.38.41The WAVE conference was great this year, with many commenting about how much they learned and how fun it was to be part of the event. We had 55 on the first day with several of those being first-time signers. Our numbers dropped to about 30 on the second day because unfortunately we were hosting during a time when many are studying for exams and don’t want to miss school or course.
The conference expanded this year by adding a Skype session from the USA with Trevor leading a session on student leadership. This was an exciting thing to offer as we try to amp up our value for those attending.

We worked on several songs but highlighted “Awake”, “No One Like You” and “A Better Way”. They really have picked up so much from watching YouTube and the couple of sessions we have done via Skype. The India WAVE team has only been together for about 15 months but seem like much longer as they have gelled and sign pretty cohesively as a group. I am very proud of their progress.

WEBSITE

One of the other things that was a huge accomplishment on this trip was the relaunch of the SAC website. About a year ago, SAC launched a site but in that time it had suffered from the need of additonal content and updates. On this trip I was able to help them create a new site and get the information updated, as well as create a couple of new pages for them to begin soliciting donations and keeping donors better informed. Take some time and check out www.sacministries.com

SUMMER

We have a return trip planned for the last part of July until about August 10. The schedule will include hosting a 5day camp for the orphans and children who live in the nearby villages. We are estimating about 100 kids each day.
While there we will also be sharing with the churches and WAVE team as well teaching and preaching during several meetings. One other major hope is to be able to get a radio tower installed so that Pastor Rajendra can broadcast services each week. He is already on TV daily as they are recording services and using those to broadcast. We want to be able to round out the media outreach by getting a radio station set up for him to share the gospel from the home location.
DSC_0986I don’t have much information on other aspects of our ministry at this point but hope to catch up and better update you with that next week. Thanks again for all your prayers and support of our ministry in India. If you or anyone you know is interested in serving in India this summer or on any other trip with us, please notify me. All trips must have commitments by the end of March. Thanks!

India Awakening 2016

Awakening IndiaHaving just returned from El Salvador and had a great trip, we are now planning for the next leg of the mission tour to kick off the 2016 year with the trip to India.

The V2H WAVE Team of India just celebrated their 1 year anniversary on Christmas Day. It was a wonderful time to check in with them via Skype and teach them a couple of new songs and share in the festivities of what God has done. It was also about a year ago, Mike Liebler and I were there hosting the WAVE conference for them, pouring into students and adults, teaching them songs and Bible as part of our ministry.

The time has come now to make the trip back and host the 2 WAVE Conference: AWAKENING and teach them new songs, disciple more students and prepare for the summer camp in August. I am looking to generate about $1500 for this trip to cover travel, the WAVE Conference with supplies, and bring some of the donated school supplies to the orphans. Would you help me get back to India and encourage our sister ministry there? If you would like to help in this effort, you can make a tax-deductible gift through paypal.com

Thanks so much for your generosity and love!

A WAVE GOODBYE

vision 2 hear new wave lgo white

The WAVE Team of New Vision Church had its final concert last night. For the last 7 years the WAVE team has been sharing music, performances and service through New Vision Church in Fayetteville, GA. It is with fond memories that we say goodbye for now. Many of the team members have now grown up and many have other commitments in life now that prohibit continued attendance/practice. So for now we are taking at break at that location.

The concert included many highlights with several new songs being performed. Added to the growing repertoire of V2H songs was Our Time Is Now, Wake, Break Every Chain and George brought back an old one in I’m Not Alright. A couple of crowd favorites were also performed: Lay Me Down, Monster and Radiator.

Another special highlight was the recognition of the seniors for this year. V2H recognized three this year: Casey Palicki from Pike County, GA, Holly Roberts from Loganville, GA and Carl Gallo from Miami, Fl. There was a special slideshow for them, which can be viewed here: Seniors 2015. V2H also took a moment to recognize the leadership of Markie Love.

Markie has been part of V2H for almost 8 years. She started at Community Christian School in Stockbridge GA as a freshman in high school and now she is a senior in college. Over the years Markie has lead the team, working with the church and coordinating events and teaching music. On June 23 she will join us on her mission trip out of the country as she goes to South Korea!

Thanks to the New Vision WAVE “Freaks” for all of great memories and wonderful times through the years! You will not be soon forgotten and we know that wherever you go, you will be the “sign”, a living breathing Vision 2 Hear, in Jesus’ name.

Vijayawada Day 3 Update

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt was certainly a busy day. We made our way to a store opening for a man who belongs to Pastor Ragendra’s church. He asked us to come and celebrate the grand opening of his new store, to bless it and share a few thoughts and then be part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony. It was a cool thing to do and to be invited to be part of. While there they gave us drinks and a nice spicy-sweet snack. I have to say my mouth was on fire, but I am a spice-wimp.

We then went shopping at the local “Walmart” to get some candy bars to give away at the schools. It was interesting to be inside a store like that, much like our Sam’s clubs/ Costco back home. While we waited for Pastor to check out, a guy asked for a photo of Brandon and I as we stood by. We have been asked for pics quite often in our last coupe of days being here. Perhaps people are just intrigued?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWe left for the home of the man who just opened the store to have a meal at his house. It was also his wife’s birthday so we shared a meal and birthday cake. One of the funny things they do is feed each other cake, much like we do at our wedding ceremonies.

Then we left for the Christian school, which was about a 20 minute drive. Once we got there (we were running a little late), the students were all sitting quietly and patiently awaiting us. Each of us shared a few words and then we gave them some candy. It was great seeing their reaction to the Shark Song.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAfter a quick visit there with some pics, we left for the next school and made another stop at a public school. Students were again very quiet and ordered as they waited for us. We all shared a few words and thoughts from our personal experiences with God and then I shared the Shark Song once again. And they loved it!

Being not very far from the orphanage at this point, we went to see the area where Pastor is building a park/Bible institute. He has the walls up, with the first level nearing completion. The playground is not yet set up because the land has to be leveled and other work has to be done before it can be properly installed. However, the work is moving along nicely.

To wrap up the long day, we had a meal at the orphanage and then had the outside meeting. About 200 people were attending the service where there was lots of music. Brandon shared a song, Al shared a brief word of encouragement and I shared some WAVE songs along with preaching. The response to all of it was very good and people seemed to be encouraged and blessed. After the service most of the people waited in lines for us to pray for and over them. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Overall the trip has been very productive and fruitful. I am still suffering from jet lag and a lack of rest. Since arriving, we’ve only had about 5 hours of sleep each day, as we haven’t quite made the 10-hour adjustment yet. There were a couple of times, I thought I was just going to pass out from sheer exhaustion but I recovered  long enough to speak/sign and make it to the house for bed. God has been good and my body is feeling better today. Please pray that our health holds up and that we get 100% energy before the weekend as Sunday will be an incredibly busy day with us traveling between 6 different meeting/ speaking locations. The church services begin as early as 6am and we will not be back to the house until closer to 11pm. Needless to say, we need to be rested for that day!

We are going to another school for performing and sharing this afternoon and then to meet with teachers. This school will be a catholic school, so we will have some good freedom to talk as we desire. Then I think there’s a youth event tonight where we will share once again.

I’ll update you as I have time. Until then, take care,

George

Two New Songs For WAVE Team

wave2

Our new season is here and I am posting new lyrics and songs. Here are a couple of new songs you start looking at and working on.

Let It Be Love By Family Force 5

I’ve never seen a soul set free
Through an argument
I’ve never seen a hurt get healed
In a protest
But I’ve seen sinners turned to saints
Because of grace
It’s love, love that lights the w
Love that lights the way

Let it be a heart wide open
Bigger than the words we’ve spoken
Let it be a heart for the broken
If we’re gonna light, light
Light the way
Let it be love, let it be love, yeah
Nothin’ but love, nothin’ but love, yeah
Let it be love, let it be love, yeah
It’s love that lights the way

It’s not about the stand we take
But the grace we give
It’s not about the name we make
But the life we live
Heard about a King who sat down
Took my place
True love gave His life away
It’s love that lights the way

Let it be a heart wide open
Bigger than the words we’ve spoken
Let it be a heart for the broken
If we’re gonna light, light
Light the way
Let it be love, let it be love, yeah
Nothin’ but love, nothin’ but love, yeah
Let it be love, let it be love, yeah
It’s love that lights the way

Stronger than every fear
Comfort for all the tears
It’s where the war is run
And it has overcome
Louder than the loudest shout
Deeper than the deepest doubt
We’ll watch the walls fall down
We’ll watch the walls fall down

Let it be a heart wide open
Bigger than the words we’ve spoken
Let it be a heart for the broken
If we’re gonna light, light
Light the way
Let it be love, let it be love, yeah
Nothin’ but love, nothin’ but love, yeah
Let it be love, let it be love, yeah
It’s love that lights the way

It’s love that lights the way
Yeah, Love that lights the way

Lyric WAVE Signs Video Here: Let It Be Love

Our Time Is Now By Colton Dixon

Are you tired of the life that leaves us begging for more,
We got our heads in the clouds but our feet on the floor,
We tend to chase everything that ends us leaving us dry,
We need a voice
One voice
Let us amplify

Can you feel momentum shifting
Can you hear the sound
We were once upon missing
We have been found
It starts now

So raise a fist high
This is the first night of beginning of forever
Now let the old die
Cause there is new life
Forever starts tonight
Our time is now
now
now
now

Its only takes one second to turn it around
We got our minds make up but still a stake in the ground
All the pain all the shame
Have you had enough of it
Are you ready for the change

Can you feel momentum shifting
Can you hear the sound
Can you see the darkness lifting
now

So raise a fist high
This is the first night of beginning of forever
Now let the old die
Cause there in new life
Forever starts tonight
Our time is now
now
now
now

Oh loving can divide us
Oh take away our time is now
We rise from ashes
Kings and queens our time is now

So raise a fist high
This is the first night of beginning of forever
Now let the old die
Cause there in new life
Forever starts tonight
Our time is now
now
now
now, now ,now….
