Thoughts For Lent: John 13:12-17

lent 2015

12 After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am. 14 So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. 16 Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them. 17 If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. John 13:12-17

Do You Know…

What do you know?

What do you know the Lord has done for you? Really know? Live? Believe with all of your heart?

How is it that the Lord wants this to affect the way you live and interact with others around you?

The things the Lord has done for us He expects us to do for others. As we have been forgiven, we are to forgive. As we have been loved, we are to love. As we have been shown mercy, we are to show mercy. What things has the Lord shown to you that you need and are expected to show to others?

You Call Me…

What words, titles would you give the Lord?

What roles has He played in your life recently?

You Also…

What do you need to do in as an example for others?

Servants…Messengers

How is God opening doors for you to serve? To be a messenger?

What does it mean to you to have been served by Jesus through His death?

What message is conveyed most strongly to you through Lent? Through the Gospel Story? Through the Resurrection?
